Types of
Graffiti |
Paint crayon and marker vary widely in chemical composition. Generally
speaking blue and green colors can be more difficult to
remove
than red or black. The thicker and older the marks, the harder/longer you need
to work to remove them. Agitation with a non-abrasive nylon
brush or polyester scrub pad will speed removal. Since Graffiti Gone is water
based, if a second application is
needed it can be done
immediately. If you are not sure the product has soaked enough, agitate it
gently to see if the graffiti is loose
enough to be rinsed. If not let
it soak longer before rinsing. |
|
Nature of surface to be treated |
Textured surfaces are harder to clean,
take longer soaking times and may leave a ghost or shadow unless the proper
product
is used.
A water based remover like Graffiti Gone is better suited than a solvent based
remover for these porous surfaces,
though they may take a little longer to soak.
Smooth surfaces clean more easily, but
painted walls and delicate areas, such as traffic signs or plastic, may need
special
gentle products that will not the surface. Gentle agitation or hot water and or pressurized
rinse should be used to speed the
process of removal. On indoor
surfaces wipe with a damp rag or sponge and rinse the rag or sponge frequently.

|
Environment |
Temperature can impact removal of marks. The recommended temperature is between
60°F to 100°F (or 16°C to 30°C).
If it is too hot the
product evaporate too fast. If it is too cold, the product takes to long to
work. Remember that the temperature of
the surface is more important|
than the temperature of the air. In the summer work in the early morning when
there is some shade
on the target area. If the surface is hot try to
water down the surface to cool them down before applying the product. In the
winter
do the opposite, work on sunny afternoons when the target area has had a
chance to warm up. |

How to choose the right product. |
Graffiti Gone and Graffiti Block usually work on many surfaces from
unpainted brick to trees. It is strongly recommended that
you follow all
directions. You can contact Multi-Seal Technical Support Team for
assistance (1-626-282-5659, Pacific Time).
One issue that you should be aware of
that solvents in spray paint and permanent markers can damage painted or soft
surfaces.
After the remover cleans off the marks the damage will remain. Soft
Plexiglas and vinyl are surfaces that are hard to remove
marks from. If the
graffiti chemically bonds or soaks into the surface, total removal in impossible
without removing part of the
surface, like water based latex paint. Delicate
surfaces are frequently better served by using anti-graffiti sealers like
Graffiti-Block.
These coatings prevent graffiti from even touching the surface.
When in doubt follow these 3 rules.
- Test in a inconspicuous area
- Use lowest water pressure
- Send email to multiseal and
explain your problem.
