Equipment Needed
Wet Floor Signs, Mop bucket and Wringer,
Clean rayon or finish mop and plastic trash liner.
|
1. |
Assemble you equipment. |
|
2. |
Post Wet floor signs. (There should be more
than one sign posted. The signs should indicate which areas are being
finished or sealed. |
|
3. |
Line the mop bucket with a plastic trash
liner to avoid contamination and make clean-up easier.
Pour sealer or
finish into lined mop bucket. |
|
4. |
Drip presoaked rayon or finish mop head into
the finish and tamp in the wringer.
Do not wring
out the mop head. |
|
5. |
Outline the area to be
finished. It is not necessary to go to the baseboards* on each coat.
Fill in the outlined area with a overlapping figure-eight mopping
pattern. |
|
6. |
Allow the coat to dry.
Normally this takes 30-45 minutes.
Do
not recoat until the finish is dry to touch--plus 15 minutes. |
|
7. |
Reapply finish until
desired appearance is achieved. With
each extra coat of sealer/finish the floor
will dry slower so increase
time between coats by 15 minutes each coat.
Do not put more than 3 coats
of sealer/finish on the floor in one day. |
|
8. |
Thoroughly clean the
mop head, bucket and wringer. Remove wet floor signs after
the floor is completely
dry. |
*Tip: When putting finish on the
floor your first and last coat should go up to the wall.
Between the first
and last coats stay at least 6" away from the wall.
You will get more wear
in the middle of the floor than along the walls. Remember no one walks along the
wall!
