Carpet Drying Tips

1. Make sure equipment is working properly. Sometimes the vacuum on an extractor is
not working properly, which can lengthen dry times.
2. Ventilation system should be operating in a facility during and after the extraction process. Even if a small amount of moisture is used, lack of air movement and humidity will cause increased drying times.
a. Open windows and doors where appropriate.
b. Turn on heat or air-conditioning where appropriate.
3. Use fans to aid drying. Air movement is key to quick drying. By using fans for drying, the mold and mildew spores (as well as other biocontaminants) will not have a chance to grow and multiply).
4. Perform a second or third "dry" pass with the extractor or dry bonnet on a
swing machine to pick up moisture and generate friction.
5. Hot water used in the extractor while cleaning will aid the cleaning process
and also lower the dry times.
6. Set pile using pile rake.
7. Over wetting the carpet leads to drying time problems, carpet damage,
mold and mildew problems and shrinkage; therefore it is important to avoid
wetting the carpet in the first place.
