Carpet Drying Tips
|
1. |
Make sure equipment is working
properly. Sometimes the vacuum on an extractor is
not working properly,
which can lengthen dry times. |
|
2. |
Ventilation system should be
operating in a facility during and after the extraction process.
Even if
a small amount of moisture is used, lack of air movement and humidity
will cause increased drying times.
a. Open windows and doors where appropriate.
b. Turn on heat or air-conditioning where appropriate. |
|
3. |
Use fans to aid drying. Air
movement is key to quick drying. By using fans for drying,
the mold and
mildew spores
(as well as other biocontaminants) will not have a chance
to grow and multiply). |
|
4. |
Perform a second or third
"dry" pass with the extractor or dry bonnet on a
swing machine
to pick up moisture and generate friction. |
|
5. |
Hot water used in the
extractor while cleaning will aid the cleaning process
and also lower
the dry times. |
|
6. |
Set pile using pile rake. |
|
7. |
Over wetting the carpet leads
to drying time problems, carpet damage,
mold and mildew problems and
shrinkage;
therefore it is important to avoid
wetting the carpet in the
first place. |
